Transportation
Horry County features a short line railroad owned by R.J. Corman. The line begins in Conway, South Carolina, passes through Loris, South Carolina and Tabor City, North Carolina, and ends in Chadbourn, North Carolina. An additional line runs from Chadbourn, North Carolina to Mullins, South Carolina. This line provides a connection to several area markets for the distribution of goods. A grant from the Federal Railroad Administration ($9,765,620), with additional cost share provided by South Carolina Department of Commerce and R.J. Corman ($7,800,000), will rehabilitate the R.J. Corman rail line, allowing for expanded capacity and efficiency.
Educational Facilities
Coastal Carolina University (CCU)
This public liberal arts institution located in Conway offers 67 baccalaureate degrees, eight master's degree programs, a doctoral program in Marine Science, and two specialist degrees in educational leadership and instructional technology. Total enrollment 10,663 with 51% being South Carolina residents, 47% out-of-state residents from 48 states and 2% are international students from 70 countries
Fortune Academy of Real Estate
This institute trains new agents, existing agents, and those wishing to become brokers in preparation for the state licensing exam, appraisal, and home inspection.
Horry County School District
The district serves the Myrtle Beach attendance area, with Myrtle Beach High, Middle, Intermediate, Elementary, and Primary Schools. Total enrollment in the district is 44,195, which is the highest total annual enrollment ever for Horry County.
Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC)
This two-year public college offers associate degrees, diplomas, and certificate programs and has multiple campuses throughout the region. Non-credit and corporate training programs are offered through the continuing education division. Additional job training options are available for local companies, industrial prospects, and individuals who do not wish to enroll in college but need job training for immediate employment. 10,451 students are enrolled in regular curriculum programs, while over 3,600 participate in continuing education courses.
ITT Technical Institute
The school offers four areas of study in information technology, drafting and design, electronic technology, and business.
Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA)
The school produces aircraft mechanics and avionics technicians with hands-on experience in aviation maintenance, electronics, and other related fields.
Webster University
This independent, comprehensive, multi-campus, international university offering graduate programs at its Myrtle Beach campus as well as master’s degree programs in business administration, health administration, counseling, human resources development, and management/leadership. Enrollment at the campus averages 450-600 students, with five terms each year.

Frontier Communications
This telecommunications provider features internet download speeds up to 100 Mbps, upload speeds up to 100 Mbps, as well as voice and television services.
Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority
This regional water and sewer service provider features contractual services for six municipal water and sewer utilities, as well as two public water utilities, in Horry County.
Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc
This utility provides electricity service to nearly 64,000 active meters through 22 substations across 4,000 miles of distribution line in Horry County.
Horry Telephone Cooperative
HTC is the nation’s largest telecommunications cooperative. They offer a full array of services for business and residential use including high-speed internet access with speeds up to 1 Gbps, digital cable television, local telephone and long distance, wireless, security and IT services and the area’s most extensive fiber optic network.
Santee Cooper
This State-owned electric and water utility, the State's largest power producer, supplies electricity to more than 163,000 retail customers in Berkeley, Georgetown, and Horry Counties.
SC Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G)
This principal subsidiary of SCANA Corporation purchases natural gas at two major sites, Aiken and Blacksburg, South Carolina. Natural gas is delivered to service areas through a transmission pipeline to a regulator station just east of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway off Highway 501. A series of distribution mains allow natural gas to be delivered via service line taps to the meters of end users.

This telecommunications utility offers internet speeds up to 300 Mbps, voice, and cable.
